Enid Blyton was born in 1897. She is the author of over 700 books for children and creator of a host of legendary characters, including ‘The Famous Five, The Secret Seven’ and, most famously, ‘Noddy’, Big Ears’ and the other inhabitants of Toyland.

Susan Juby grew up in Smithers, B.C. and had a brief and not-very illustrious career as a fashion design student. After working a variety of low-paying, low-prestige jobs such as record store employee, restaurant server and housekeeper, she completed a B.A. in English literature and, after working as an editor for several years, a Master of Publishing degree.

Melissa Marr
