Lynne Reid Banks

Lynne Reid Banks is a best-selling author for children and adults. Her classic children’s novel ‘The Indian in the Cupboard’ has sold nearly six million copies worldwide. She was born in London in 1929 and worked as an actress, writer and TV news reporter. Lynne has written thirty books: her first, ‘The L-Shaped Room’, was published in 1960. She now lives in Dorset, where she continues to write. Lynne says that writing for children comes much more easily than writing for adults.

Jack London

Jack London was born in San Francisco in 1876, and was a prolific and successful writer until his death in 1916. During his lifetime he wrote novels, short stories and essays, and is best known for ‘The Call of the Wild’ and ‘White Fang’.

Gillian Cross

Gillian Cross has been a successful author for many years. She has won the Carnegie medal, for ‘Wolf’; the Smarties Prize and the Whitbread Children’s Novel award, for ‘The Great Elephant Chase’ and her ‘Demon Headmaster’ books have been made into a successful television series. Gillian Cross is a great supporter of libraries and has served on several national committees and working parties in support ot these institutions. She lives in Warwickshire with her husband and family.

Diana Wynne Jones

DIANA WYNNE JONES was born in August 1934 in London, where she had a chaotic and unsettled childhood against the background of World War II. The family moved around a lot, finally settling in rural Essex. As children, Diana and her two sisters were deprived of a good, steady supply of books by a father, ‘who could beat Scrooge in a meanness contest’. So, armed with a vivid imagination and an insatiable quest for good books to read, she decided that she would have to write them herself.

Kiera Cass graduated from Radford University with a degree in History. She grew up in South Carolina and currently lives in Blacksburg, Virginia with her family. C. S. Lewis

Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a fellow and tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954 when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement.

Louise Rennison

Louise Rennison was a journalist, comedian and beloved author. She was the creator of the Georgia Nicolson series which won the Bronze Nestlé Smarties Book Prize. Louise was also awarded Queen of Teens and the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Louise passed away in 2016 at 64-years-young. She left behind a legion of adoring readers who still hold the Ace Gang close to their hearts.

Rook Hastings

Rook Hastings has been a writer of fiction for eight years. With a lifelong fascination for the paranormal, Rook has lived in two haunted houses. Once as a child, when an invisible ghost cat would make Rook break out in an allergic rash whenever it brushed by, and once as an art student when a recently deceased former housemate caused all sorts of spooky goings on for a whole year. Rook now lives very happily in a non-haunted house in Hertfordshire.
