Jamie Rix is a children’s author, an animation writer and director, and a producer of television comedy. Jamie has published over forty titles, ranging from picture books and first readers to novels and books of short stories. He is married and has two grown up children. Jamie and his wife live in South London with a boxer dog and two foxes under their garden shed.

Tom Mitchell
Tom Mitchell is mostly a dad, partly a teacher and sometimes a writer. He grew up in the West Country and settled in London after a brief interlude in the East Midlands. He lives in Kent with his wife, Nicky, and sons, Dylan and Jacob. He has written six middle-grade novels for HarperCollins Children’s Books, with the latest being FIRST KID IN SPACE
Alan Garner
Alan Garner was born and still lives in Cheshire, an area which has had a profound effect on his writing and provided the seed of many ideas worked out in his books.
His fourth book, ‘The Owl Service’ brought Alan Garner to everyone’s attention. It won two important literary prizes – The Guardian Award and the Carnegie Medal – and was made into a serial by Granada Television. It has established itself as a classic and Alan Garner as a writer of great distinction.
Chris Blake
Chris Blake lives in the South West, not far from Tintagel Castle, rumoured to be the home of King Arthur. Ever since he was a little boy Chris has always dreamed about travelling through time. He likes watching Doctor Who and looks forward to the day that time-travel is possible as he’d love to visit all the places in his books. In the meantime Chris will keep writing his own adventures. Chris has an old black cat called Merlin.
Clive Dickinson
Clive Dickinson has worked widely in both fiction and non-fiction children’s publishing for twenty years. His novels for Collins include the much loved ‘Knickers, My Secret Notebook Aged 7/8/9’ and ‘The Lost Diary of Tutankhamen’s Mummy,’ from the ‘faction’ series.
Ros Asquith
Ros Asquith is well-known to Guardian readers for her strip cartoon Doris, which ran for over ten years. She is also the succesful author of children’s books, notably the Letty Chubb Teenage Worrier series for teenagers published by Piccadilly and Puffin. She lives in North London with her husband – a jazz critic – and two teenage sons.
Nicky Singer
Nicky Singer was born in 1956 and has worked in publishing, the arts and television. She was co-founder and co-director of Performing Arts Labs, a charity dedicated to training new writers for theatre, screen and opera. In 1995 she presented BBC2’s highly acclaimed documentary series on women’s fertility, “Labours of Eve”. In 2000, Nicky was made a board member of the South East Arts Board. Nicky lives in Brighton with her husband and their two young sons and a daughter.
Maeve Friel
Maeve Friel was born in Northern Ireland and went to university in Dublin. After many years working and travelling in Spain, Italy and England, she now lives in a small village near Alicante (Spain). She has a son and a daughter.
