Narinder Dhami

Narinder Dhami was born in Wolverhampton. Having read English at Birmingham University, she spent the next nine years teaching in schools in the East End of London before leaving teaching to write full-time. Her first children’s book A Medal for Malina was published in 1990, and since then Narinder has written hundreds of stories for different age groups.
Narinder lives in Shropshire with her husband Robert and their five cats.

Robin Jarvis

Robin Jarvis started writing and illustrating his own books in 1988 and, with his acclaimed ‘Deptford Mice’ and ‘Whitby Witches’ titles, quickly acquired a reputation as a bestselling children’s author. He has been shortlisted for the Carnegie Prize and Smarties Award, and twice won the Lancashire Libraries Children’s Book of the Year Award. Amongst children, his work has a cult following.

Robin Jarvis lives in Greenwich, London.

Kerry Drewery

Kerry Drewery lives in Lincolnshire. Active in Bookstart and the winner of a BBC writing prize, she now writes full-time for teenagers.

Aimee Harper

Animal-crazy Aimee lives by the seaside with her two dogs, Missy, a greedy 3 year old black labrador and Milo, a naughty Jack Russell puppy. When she is not writing, Aimee loves taking Missy and Milo for long walks along the beach and attending local dog shows.

Coleen McLoughlin

Charles Butler

Charles Butler lives in Bristol, where he works as an English Lecturer specialising in children’s fantasy.

Vivian French

Vivian French worked in children’s theatre for ten years before she established herself as a storyteller. In 1988 she began to write for children and has had over 40 books published since them, including her Morris books and two Sleepovers, and the 3rd Century story in Centuries of Stories for Collins.

She has travelled from Orkney to Oklahoma talking about children’s books; is a visiting lecturer at the University of the West of England and reviews for the Guardian.

Barry Hutchison

Barry Hutchison hails from the Highlands of Scotland, where he spends time writing screenplays, comics and scary children’s books. He is in his early thirties – but on a good day could easily pass for mid-forties – and lives happily with his long-term partner and young son.

He is tall – but not like the BFG or that – and likes seafood, comics and Elvis, though not necessarily in that order.

Helen Baugh

Helen Baugh wrote her first book (a book of spells) as a very young child. After taking a degree, travelling and working as a copywriter, she finally came full circle and started writing children’s books again. Helen lives with her partner and their two daughters near the sea in Sussex.
