Little Mix

Little Mix are Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall. They began their X-Factor journey as four individuals before being made into a group, then called ‘Rhythmix’. With Tulisa Contostavlos as their friend and mentor, Little Mix battled their way through to the final round and ultimately became the only group ever to win.

Mandy Stanley

Mandy Stanley was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk. She attended Great Yarmouth College of Art and Design and then went on to do a fashion degree in Nottingham. Mandy has won awards for her soft toy designs and has also worked as a children’s clothes designer. She now works full time as a children’s book illustrator.

Jill Barklem

Jill Barklem was drawn to the natural world from childhood. While training as an illustrator at St Martin’s School of Art, her long journeys to college gave her time to escape into the imaginary world of a colony of mice, later to be developed as the enchanting miniature world of Brambly Hedge.

Alice Oseman

Alice Oseman was born in 1994 in Kent, England. She completed a degree in English at Durham University in 2016 and is currently a full-time writer and illustrator. Alice can usually be found staring aimlessly at computer screens, questioning the meaninglessness of existence, or doing anything and everything to avoid getting an office job. Alice’s first book, SOLITAIRE, was published when she was nineteen.

Michael Rosen

Michael Rosen is well-known as a poet and broadcaster and was Children’s Laureate from 2007-2009. He has devoted his life to entertaining children with his writing and performances and to informing teachers, librarians, parents, publishers and government agencies of the importance of supporting children’s books.

Tom Percival

Tom Percival studied graphic design in South Wales. His illustration career has seen him design Halloween merchandise for a major supermarket, create the character ‘Hector’ for an Aardman-animated road safety campaign and produce cover art for a number of successful children’s fiction series, including ‘Skulduggery Pleasant’. He lives in Bristol with his girlfriend, their baby son and next door’s cat.

Ross Welford

Ross Welford was a journalist and television producer before becoming a full-time writer. He lives in London with his wife, children, a border collie and several tropical fish.

Ian Whybrow

Ian Whybrow’s many popular successes range from picture books to novels for older children. Best known for his original humour, he always writes with adult readers as well as young ones in mind. He has a brilliant ear for voices, and takes pride in the fact that his work reads aloud very well. ‘I loved being read to as a child,’ he says. ‘And I loved the sense that my parents were enjoying it too. For me, that’s the acid test for any book – that there’s something in it for everyone to enjoy.
